The Indonesian Oncology Surgeons Association (PERABOI) is a professional organization that houses oncology surgical specialists in Indonesia. Initially established as the Indonesian Tumor Surgeons Association (PABTI) on January 20, 1979, this organization later developed and changed its name to PERABOI, and became a member of the Indonesian Surgeons Association (IKABI). PERABOI is committed to improving the competence and professionalism of oncology surgeons through various scientific activities such as symposiums, workshops, and the Annual Scientific Meeting (PIT). In addition, PERABOI is also active in encouraging multidisciplinary collaboration, developing research and education, and increasing public awareness regarding the importance of early detection and appropriate cancer treatment. To date, PERABOI has more than 223 members spread across 29 of the 34 provinces in Indonesia, making it one of the key organizations in the development of oncology surgical services in the country.
The Indonesian Association of Oncology Surgeons (PERABOI) Bali Branch is part of the national organization PERABOI which houses oncology surgical specialists throughout Indonesia. This branch is actively developing oncology surgery in the Bali region through various scientific activities, training, and interprofessional collaboration. One of their latest activities is the PERABOI Bali Branch Scientific Meeting on March 16, 2024, which aims to update the knowledge and skills of members in the field of oncology surgery. In addition, PERABOI Bali is also involved in educational activities such as the XX School of Surgical Oncology for General Surgeons (SSOGS) which focuses on breast cancer. Some active members of PERABOI Bali include dr. Desak Gede Agung Pramesti Devi, Sp.B., Subsp. Onk (K) who practices at Mitra Keluarga Hospital, dr. I Gede Budhi Setiawan, Sp.B (K) Onk who is a staff at the Faculty of Medicine, Udayana University and Sanglah Hospital, Denpasar, and dr. I Wayan Sudarsa, Sp.B (K) Onk who serves as Head of the Specialist Education Center II Consultant Surgical Oncology at FK UNUD/RSUP Sanglah. With the presence of these professionals, PERABOI Bali Branch continues to contribute to improving surgical oncology services in Bali.
