The PERABOI Congress is a regularly held event organized by the Indonesian Society of Surgical Oncology (PERABOI), serving as a conducive forum for collaboration, learning, and the exchange of ideas among medical professionals and healthcare practitioners. The 13th PERABOI Congress in 2025 will take place in Bali and will be held in collaboration with the Global Breast Cancer Conference (GBCC).
The theme of the 13th PERABOI Congress is “The Role of Surgical Oncologists in Patient-Centered Oncology Care: Advancing Towards the Era of Precision Medicine.” This theme was chosen because, in recent decades, advancements in the field of oncology have brought significant changes to the approach of cancer diagnosis and treatment. The role of surgical oncologists as part of a multidisciplinary medical team is becoming increasingly important in ensuring the most appropriate treatment plans for each individual (personalized medicine).
GBCC is an annual international breast cancer conference, which this year will be held on April 17–19, 2025, in Seoul, South Korea. The event aims to bring together experts and medical professionals from around the world to share knowledge, the latest research, and best practices in breast cancer care. By incorporating the GBCC Highlight 2025 into the 13th PERABOI Congress, it is hoped that Indonesian surgical oncologists will gain insights and perspectives on the challenges and advancements in global breast cancer management, particularly in Asia, so they can be applied to current breast cancer cases.
Although many advancements have been made, there are still challenges in broadly implementing this approach, especially regarding accessibility and adequate understanding of new technologies. Therefore, it is essential to continue raising awareness and knowledge about how surgical oncologists can contribute to designing cancer care plans. Through this scientific event, it is expected that medical professionals will gain a better understanding of the latest strategies in cancer care and improving patients’ quality of life.
